Following the enormous success of “The Thin Man” movie in 1934, Dashiell Hammett was commissioned to write stories for additional films. He wrote two full-length novellas, for the films that became “After the Thin Man” and “Another Thin Man.” In “After the Thin Man,” retired private investigator Nick Charles and his former debutante wife Nora, return home to San Francisco to find Nora’s family gardener murdered, leading them into an investigation of a love triangle gone wrong and another deadly game of cat and mouse. In “Another Thin Man,” after a wealthy business partner of Nora’s father is murdered, Nick and Nora’s investigation brings them into the killer’s crosshairs. Edited by Richard Layman and Julie M.
