Four short stories featuring the Continental Op, three of which take
place in San Francisco. In “Fly Paper,” the Op is assigned the job of finding
the rebellious daughter of a prominent New Yorker, whose last known address
is San Francisco. The Op investigates the murder of a San Francisco politician-contractor,
who was shot with a .38 on Pine Street, between Jones and Leavenworth,
in “Death on Pine Street.” In “Zigzags of Treachery,” the Op investigates
the murder of a doctor with two wives and an old secret.
