Registration

Before entering The Bancroft Library Reading Room, you must stop at the Registration Desk, located to the left of the entrance of the Reference Center, and register to use the library.

Bancroft Library readers must be at least 18, or have graduated from high school. Current UCB photo identification is adequate for registration. Others must present two forms of identification (at least one containing a photograph).

In the process of registering, you agree to abide by Bancroft regulations, as outlined in the "Conditions of Use" leaflet available at the Registration Desk. Among these conditions are prohibitions against containers (backpacks, purses, envelopes, etc.) and pens in the Reading Room. Registration remains valid for two years.
