The Bancroft Gallery

The Bancroft Library is pleased to offer a rotating exhibition schedule. The exhibitions change every three to four months and strive to highlight different aspects of The Bancroft Library collections.

Please help keep the gallery clean and enjoyable for everyone by following these simple rules:

• Food and drink are not allowed inside under any circumstances
• Photography of any kind is not allowed
• Visitors are not to touch or lean on the exhibition cases
• All bags larger than 10x12x3 inches must be placed in the lockers
  (purses, small shoulder bags, and very small backpacks are permissible)
• Visitors should not touch any exhibition item
• Touching and leaning against the gallery walls are prohibited
• Cell phones and electronic devices should not be used in the gallery
• The computer station is not to be used for personal e-mail or net surfing

The Bancroft Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10am to 4pm. Do note that the gallery is closed on weekends and administrative holidays.

School groups that would like to visit The Bancroft Gallery are welcome, but please be aware that the gallery has limited space. Groups in the gallery need to be limited to no more than twenty students at a time. Additionally, students need to be accompanied by at least two adults from their school. It is up to the teachers' discretion to determine how long each group may spend in the gallery. The rest of the students should remain outside of the building to wait for their turn. The exhibitions do not have any available docents or guides, but items displayed are labeled. Parking for buses (and cars) on the Berkeley campus is almost non-existent. Buses are permitted to drop groups off at the front of The Bancroft Library, but then must drive off campus to wait until it is time to return to pick up the passengers.
