Dante, La Commedia , commentary by Cristoforo Landino, illustrated by Baccio Landino (Firenze: Nicolaus Laurentius, 1481) ( GW , 7966). first back flyleaf verso, in a late 15thߚcent humanistic cursive is the Nota de Laura , "Laura propriis virtutibus illustris ... exitus acriter ac viriliter cogitanti" (Nolhac, Pétrarque et l’humanisme, II, 286-87). The same person who wrote the Laura note also annotated the Commedia. ORIGIN
