Paper (Huchet, similar to Briquet 7680), ff. I (modern paper) + 101 + I (modern paper), modern foliation, 282 × 198 (180 × 96) mm., 29 long lines, 1-910 1010 (+11th), with parchment reinforcing tabs, plain perpendicular catch-words, drypoint ruled, written by one person, humanistic script. Decoration: spaces have been left blank for initials; names and captions are written in red in the margins by the scribe of the text, quotes from the Triumpus fame are in red ink. Binding, natural color parchment over paper boards, "Poggio Tr. di Fa. di F. Pe." on leather label on the spine. ff. 1-101v, Iacopo di Poggio Bracciolini, Commento sopra el Triumpho de la Fama , title "Iacopo di messer Poggio a Lorenzo di Piero di Cosimo de’ Medici sopra el Triompho della fama di messer Francesco Petrarca. Prohemio", ff. 1-2v, Preface, inc. "[C]ommune è opinione, Magnifico Lorenzo ... in porto havendo te per capitano et governatore"; ff. 2v-3, Triumphi Tr. fam., vv. 1-24, inc. "[N]el cor pien d’amarissima dolcezza ... Che fe ’n Germania e ’n Francia tal ruina"; ff. 3-101v, Commento, inc. "[E]l populo romano superiore per le sua singulari et immense virtù ...", expl. "... con grandissima gloria e benivolentia inaudita de’ suoi populi" (Hain, 12789).

Written probably in Florence, Italy, s. XV2.
PROVENANCE
On f. 101v is the signature of an early 16th cent. owner, "Iste liber est magnificorum dominorum heredum quondam magnifici domini Nicollai Scarampi etc.", perhaps of the Scarampi family of Bergamo; library label on the back pastedown with " 166/3/80 " and " 63-490 "; W. Fiske bookplate on the front pastedown and his no. A. 190013 on the first front flyleaf verso. From the W. Fiske bequest, Cat., 70.
