The Sutro Library Mexicana Collection
The Sutro Mexican Collection was acquired by Adolph Sutro through the purchase of the entire stock
of the Librerķa Abadiano in Mexico City in 1889. The oldest bookshp in Mexico at the time, the
Abadiano stock had accumulated since 1753. The entire Sutro Library was donated to the California
State Library by his heirs in 1913.
