Shig’s Review #35 and 64
Shig’s Review #35 and 64
Numbers 35 and 64 are perhaps the most unusual issues of Shig’s Review, as each is a one-of-a-kind collaboration with mail art enthusiast Alton Hunt, aka Lord Byron. Hunt, who died in 1993, was a weaver for the Federal Art Project and a sketcher for Diego Rivera. In his later years he became interested in mail art, and would create elaborate collages on cardboard, which he would mail to friends, including Shig. Two of the collages he mailed to Shig appear to be collaborative efforts, as they include Shig’s hanko and are identified as Shig’s Review #35 (one of three issues numbered 35) and #64.
