Ellen Wyrick-Parkinson Transcript
Ellen Wyrick-Parkinson was a long-term resident of West Oakland. After the collapse of the Cypress Freeway in West Oakland during the Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989, Wyrick-Parkinson became involved in the Coalition for West Oakland Revitalization. In the mid-1990s, she became involved in the West Oakland Community Advisory Group, which was affiliated with the Oakland Base Reuse Authority. In this interview, Gordon discusses community advocacy and the closure and reuse of the OAB.
