Leo Robinson Transcript
Leo Robinson was born in Louisiana in 1937 and then, as a young boy, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area with his mother, who was searching for wartime employment. Robinson grew up in West Oakland and remembers nearby Oakland Army Base (OAB) from his youth. He joined the ILWU in 1958 and thereafter obtained regular work at the OAB as a unionized, civilian employee.
