The subject of suffrage certainly surfaced at the University of California during this period. Equal suffrage organizations formed both on campus and off campus, and the Berkeley Suffrage Campaign headquarters was conveniently based on the institution's edges at 2515 Bancroft Way, east of what is now Sproul Plaza. The community women who established these organizations often encouraged students to attend meetings and listen to the guest speakers. On Voting Day, October 10, 1911, more than one hundred women students helped suffrage workers.
