Two Photographs of Clemens’s Friend Robert F. Howland

In the first photograph, taken in 1861 when Howland was 23, Howland and his dog are seated in two chairs. In the second, taken in 1862 in front of a cabin in Aurora, Howland and his dog are accompanied by three friends and another dog.
