Miracle Water
[letter of 1 August 1883 to a water company (transcript); letter to Jane Lampton Clemens, 16 August 1883]

Clemens's letter to the Magnetic Rock Spring Company of Iowa was published in the Colfax (Iowa) Clipper, from which this text is taken.

A case of the water was soon delivered to Clemens, who acknowledged its beneficial effect in a letter to his mother written on 16 August:

"I canít remember to drink the Rock Spring water, ma. They bring it to the room, mornings, but I forget to drink it. Still, there being always a bottle of it in the room, I can see that the bottle itself does some good & makes me healthier & stronger. I am going to have 2 bottles brought in."
