| The Paige Typesetter [photograph, unknown date] Clemens began investing in James W. Paige's temperamental machine in 1881 and was not free of its toils until 1895. The sole surviving Paige Typesetter is now at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut. This photograph was marked for the printer by Albert Bigelow Paine, who published it in Mark Twain: A Biography (1912). |
