The extent of Mark Twain's international popularity is reflected in the large number of foreign editions and translations of his works, which have been published in over fifty countries and in more than seventy languages. The exhibition includes a small sample of such editions, including The Prince and the Pauper in Armenian, in Serbo-Croatian, and in Russian; Tom Sawyer, Detective and Tom Sawyer Abroad in Hebrew; Huckleberry Finn in Italian and in Norwegian (a comic-book adaptation); Life on the Mississippi in Polish; A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court in Japanese (an illustrated abridgment); The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in French; and Roughing It in Spanish.
